Our Nursery
Rushton Nursery is part of a small, rural school nestled on the edge of the beautiful Staffordshire Moorlands.
We are committed to providing a safe, stimulating, and nurturing environment where every child is cared for as an individual. Our aim is to create a happy and engaging atmosphere that encourages both play and learning.
At the heart of our approach are the values of Respect, Empathy, Aspiration, and Courage. These values are woven into everyday experiences, helping each child grow into a confident, compassionate, and valued member of the community.
The Nursery children share a class with Reception and we are called 'Hedgehog Class'.
Nursery Times
Rushton Nursery is open from 8:30am to 3:00pm, with wraparound care available from 8:00am to 5:10pm to support working families.
Children are welcome to join us from the term in which they turn 3 years old. We offer flexible attendance options to suit individual needs, with our general session times as follows:
- Morning Session: 8:30am – 12:00pm
- Afternoon Session: 1:00pm – 3:00pm
- Lunchtime: 12:00pm – 1:00pm
Children attending either morning or afternoon sessions are welcome to stay for lunch. They may choose a school dinner at £2.85 or bring a packed lunch from home.
Nursery Funding and Fees
All children are entitled to 15 hours of free childcare starting from the term after they turn 3 years old. We also offer places for families eligible for the 30 hours funded childcare, subject to meeting the criteria. More information can be found via Staffordshire EEF.
Additional sessions beyond funded hours are charged at £4.50 per hour.
Forest School

Soccer Lions and Forest School
As part of our week, the children will have the opportunity to take part in Soccer Lions and Forest school, ran by trained professionals that come into school to work with the children.
Drinks/snack:
All nursery age children are provided with free milk and fruit daily.
Uniform and PE Kit:
You can purchase both nursery uniform and PE kit from Supersport in Leek. The address is: Supersport, Hope Silk Mill, Macclesfield Road, Leek ST13 8JZ. The opening hours are: Monday – Thursday 8.30am – 5.00pm, Friday 8.30am – 4.00pm, Saturday / Sunday CLOSED.
PTA:
At Rushton we support a successful PTA who organise a number of social events and fund raising for both parents and children. All parents are welcome to join PTA meetings and can put themselves forward to be part of the PTA. Our PTA have a Facebook page where they post information and important dates and events.
